Renewable Biofuels & Feedstocks

Mediterranean Inspection Company is at the forefront of renewable fuels analysis

The traditional methods of measuring the presence of renewable materials in commercial fuels rely on identifying differences in chemical structures (Infrared Spectroscopy) or physical properties (boiling point distribution) between crude oil-based and biomass-based fuels. However, new techniques must always be adopted as conventional methods are not applicable to fuels produced through co-processing, which are chemically similar to those produced from crude oil. We at Mediterranean Inspection Company aim always to keep our process up to date to the latest cutting edge methods and technologies.

Radiocarbon Dating: A Cutting-Edge Analytical Technique Radiocarbon dating is a highly regarded analytical technique that uses the natural decay of carbon isotopes to determine the age of a material. This method, commonly used by academic institutions and a few commercial testing firms, calculates the biobased content of a material based on the percent modern carbon (pMC) value obtained by comparing the carbon concentration in the sample to a known reference material.

Mediterranean Inspection Company Lebanon leads the way in offering Radiocarbon dating by ASTM D6866, becoming the first inspection company in Lebanon to do so. With three state-of-the-art laboratories within Lebanon provided by our partners, the company provides unparalleled services in determining the biogenic content of renewable materials.

Our portfolio of renewable products is expanding quickly to encompass a variety of fuels, including renewable diesel, renewable gasoline, biodiesel, ethanol, sustainable aviation fuel, hydrogen, and other similar fuels, feedstocks, and blends.

We are committed to staying ahead of the curve in innovation, compliance, and sustainability. Our investments are aimed at ensuring that we and our clients continue to be leaders in these areas for years to come.
